Meet Carolyn Worth, a valued member of the Astoria team as Director of Programs & Events since 2022. After earning her degree from the University of Colorado, Carolyn made Jackson her home in 2007. She spent ten years working for Community Entry Services, a local nonprofit that is dedicated to empowering people with disabilities to maximize independence and lead satisfying productive lives in the community, before bringing her passion for service to Astoria. What Carolyn loves most about Astoria is being part of a team that actively brings its nonprofit mission to life. When she’s not at work, you can find her enjoying the great outdoors—fishing, hiking, and camping with her husband and their five-year-old daughter.
What’s your favorite program and why?
Astoria’s Frontline Resilience program is my favorite! This program is dedicated to supporting local critical service providers, who are the backbone of our community and often do not have time to care for themselves. Offering a free monthly wellness program and soak as a thank you to this group of people is pretty incredible. I am honored to work for an organization that supports this type of program and gives back to the community in so many ways.
Who is someone you admire and why?
I admire my coworker Bari Bucholz! On a daily basis, you will find Bari digging through the trash at Astoria and finding items that belong in the recycling bin, not trash. She has pushed our organization towards zero waste and leads us all by example. Bari is a team player and one of the kindest people I have met. She has an amazing work ethic and a passion for education and conservation that is contagious.

What are you most excited about the forthcoming Astoria Park?
The nature playground! I have a five-year-old daughter, and I can’t wait to spend the day at Astoria Park, playing on the playground, walking along the trails, looking for birds, picnicking, and ending the day with a soak!
