Hello,
My name is Carolyn Worth, and I have the honor of serving as the Director of Events and Programs at Astoria. This work is so much more than a job to me. Astoria has allowed me to cultivate programming that creates a genuine ripple effect of care, connection, and well-being throughout our community.
Many people think of Astoria as simply a hot springs, but what happens here goes far beyond the pools. We offer education, wellness, and behavioral health programs designed to help our community feel supported and held.
Our educational programs, like swim lessons, Camp Astoria, and our conservation collaborations, create hands-on, place-based learning experiences for both kids and adults. Our monthly wellness offerings, including Yoga + Sound Bath, Integrative Breathwork, and Morning Meditation, give people practical and restorative ways to slow down and tend to themselves.
I’m especially proud of our work in behavioral health. Astoria’s Frontline Resilience Program supports more than 30 organizations whose staff show up for our community every day. We offer them monthly wellness programming and a soothing soak, giving essential workers space to rest and reset. We also recognize the emotional weight carried by mental health providers, which is why we’ve created a complimentary wellness offering just for them. These programs feel deeply important, and the gratitude we hear from participants reminds us how needed they truly are.
I feel incredibly lucky to witness the quiet moments of impact — parents who finally exhale, kids discovering something new outdoors, frontline workers who feel seen and cared for. These are the moments that remind me why this work matters.
As we approach the end of the year, I hope you’ll consider supporting these programs. As a unique nonprofit hot springs and park, these programs are only made possible by grant funds and donations. We rely on community generosity, and gifts of any size help us continue offering free or reduced-cost experiences that meet people where they are, in the way only Astoria can.
Wishing you a peaceful holiday season, and a heartfelt thank you for being part of the Astoria community.
With gratitude,
Carolyn
