The Deadlocks Bring Grateful Dead-Inspired Sounds to Astoria September 26 with Special Guests John Kadlecik, Duane Betts & Jeremy Hoenig
Cue the dancing bears. Break out the tie-dye. And don’t forget your bathing suit.
Amplify Astoria is back for its fourth year, and this time, Astoria Park Conservancy is turning the Snake River Canyon into a late-summer-of-love concert venue on Saturday, September 26.
Local Grateful Dead favorites The Deadlocks will take the stage alongside an exceptional lineup of special guests: John Kadlecik, Duane Betts and Jeremy Hoenig. From the lawn to the hot springs, guests can expect an evening of live music, soaking, BBQ, beverages and the kind of laid-back community spirit that feels right at home at Astoria.
Amplify Astoria isn’t just about getting down to some great music. The annual fundraiser supports Astoria’s Access Fund, which helps make hot springs visits, wellness programs and other experiences at the park more affordable for people who might otherwise face a financial barrier. In other words, the good vibes have a purpose.
This year’s musical lineup is worthy of a serious Shakedown Street-style celebration.
The Deadlocks, a beloved Jackson Hole and Teton Valley-based Grateful Dead cover band, have been bringing their high-energy interpretations to local venues and festivals for more than a decade. For Amplify Astoria, they’ll be joined by musicians with some serious Dead-world chops.
John Kadlecik was a founding member and lead guitarist of Dark Star Orchestra and later performed with original Grateful Dead members Bob Weir and Phil Lesh in Furthur.
Duane Betts, son of Allman Brothers legend Dickey Betts, is a guitarist and singer-songwriter. He leads Duane Betts & Palmetto Motel, is a co-founder of The Allman Betts Band and has performed with Phil Lesh & Friends.
Jeremy Hoenig, currently the drummer for Melvin Seals & JGB, is deeply rooted in San Francisco’s Grateful Dead scene and has performed with Grateful Dead founding members Phil Lesh and Bob Weir.
Together, they’ll bring a whole lot of musical history, and a whole lot of groove, to one of Jackson Hole’s most unusual concert settings.
“We wanted this year’s Amplify to feel like the perfect late-summer gathering: a little bit of music festival, a little bit of hot springs soak and a whole lot of community,” said Quinn McColly, Executive Director of Astoria Park Conservancy. “The lineup is incredible, the setting is hard to beat, and best of all, the event helps support our Access Fund and our mission to make Astoria accessible to everyone.”
Guests can soak in Astoria’s mineral-rich natural hot springs while listening to live music, relax on the lawn, grab some BBQ and beverages, and enjoy an afternoon surrounded by the Snake River and mountains. Amplify Astoria will also be a Zero Waste event, reflecting Astoria’s commitment to environmental stewardship.
So whether you’re a lifelong Deadhead, a casual dancing bear or simply someone who thinks live music + hot springs + a September afternoon sounds pretty darn good, Amplify Astoria is calling.
