For the fifth consecutive year, Astoria Park Conservancy is preparing to recognize May as Mental Health Awareness Month (MHAM), offering a dynamic lineup of special events and programs designed to support mental well-being.
Since opening in 2020, Astoria has remained committed to enhancing lives, welcoming more than 200,000 visitors to its renowned hot springs. Nestled along the riverfront, this tranquil sanctuary offers a restorative escape where guests can immerse themselves in mineral-rich waters and foster meaningful connections within the community.
Astoria is dedicated to equipping individuals with practical tools to navigate their mental health journey. Like a lifeline cast into turbulent waters, these tools – ranging from nature and cold immersion to guided meditation and breathwork – are shared through our wellness and critical service provider programs. Community events further strengthen emotional resilience by cultivating connection, support, and a deep sense of belonging.
The need for spaces and practices that support mental well-being has never been clearer. According to Mental Health America, nearly 1 in 5 American adults experiences a diagnosable mental health condition in any given year, and 46 percent of Americans will meet the criteria for a diagnosable mental health condition at some point in their lifetime. Strikingly, half of those conditions begin by age 14, underscoring the importance of awareness, prevention, and accessible support at every stage of life.
In support of MHAM, Astoria is offering $5 (+tax) hot springs tickets for area residents throughout the month of May. This special offer is valid for mid-week sessions only (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday) and must be reserved using the code MHAM2026. Tickets are available for groups of four or fewer and are intentionally designed to encourage rest, relaxation, and personal reset. Guests must mention the discounted hot springs soaks when booking by phone or in person.
Through these offerings, Astoria hopes to make moments of restoration more accessible while helping reduce stigma around mental health and reminding our community that caring for our minds is just as important as caring for our bodies.
