About our Frontline Resilience Programming

Life in Teton County demands extraordinary resources. With the widest wealth disparity in the nation, residents face increasing challenges to their health and overall well-being. APC’s work prioritizes three specific populations, focusing on reducing barriers to the unique health benefits offered by Astoria Hot Springs through carefully designed programs.

The 2021 Teton County Behavioral Health Assessment revealed alarming insights, particularly concerning the mental health of frontline healthcare and human services workers. One practitioner noted, “While the average American has one bad day a week, the average Teton County resident experiences two bad days weekly, and our critical service providers face five.” Supporting the resilience and mental health of these essential workers is crucial. The Frontline Resilience program has excelled in this area, leading us to expand its reach to more individuals.

Programs Loved by our Participants

Funded by the Access Fund, Astoria’s Frontline Resilience subsidized programs are specifically tailored for critical service providers in health and human services. Through partnerships with 20 organizations, Astoria offers unique experiences such as yoga and meditation classes, and seminars like “Feed Your Mental Health” with Dr. Drew Ramsey, followed by rejuvenating hot springs sessions. These programs have been highly appreciated by participants:

  • “I enjoyed it very much! It relieved physical and mental stress, and I felt so much better afterward. Thank you!”
    • Carol, Teton County Search and Rescue (TCSAR)
  • “Astoria’s free soaks and wellness activities for critical service providers are an incredible outreach and a show of appreciation. It’s a wonderful opportunity to relax and enjoy a unique aspect of our community.”
    • JJ, Jackson Hole Ski Patrol (JHSP)
  • “My favorite part of the program was having it available. Super treat!”
    • Sgt. Jeromie Traphagen, Jackson Police Department

Restoring Mental Health & Well-Being

In 2023, Astoria provided eight complimentary wellness programs and a takeover day for partnering organizations such as TCSAR, JHSP, Senior Center of Jackson Hole, Mental Health & Recovery Services of Jackson Hole, Fire/EMS, Jackson Police Department, Teton County Sheriff Department, One22, Teton Youth and Family Services, and others.

By late summer 2024, nearly 100 critical service providers had already participated in seven wellness programs and soaking sessions. These Frontline Resilience programs focus on restoring mental health and well-being, with over 74% of attendees reporting reduced stress and improved well-being as a direct result.

  • “I am so grateful to have experienced Astoria during a complimentary critical service provider program. Starting with a guided meditation opened my heart and mind, allowing me to truly relax and rejuvenate in such a beautiful setting.”
    • Reanna New, Operations Manager, Senior Center of Jackson Hole
