Astoria Cares
Astoria Hot Springs and Park, established in 2020, has become a beloved sanctuary for over a hundred thousand visitors, offering riverside rejuvenation through its unique mineral waters and fostering community connections.
But Astoria is so much more than a hot spring facility! Locals love Astoria and we care for our community by providing educational and immersive experiences connected to learning, wellness, conservation, equity and inclusion for the benefit of the entire community.
We aim to connect our community through nature, focusing on access, wellness, and conservation. Our goals include:
• Eliminating barriers to access Astoria’s healing benefits.
• Enhancing visitors’ health and well-being.
• Promoting conservation as essential for community health.
Programs are at the heart ♥️ of implementing our lofty mission!
Access Fund
We provide educational and immersive experiences related to wellness, resilience, and conservation. Through your donations and our partnerships, we offer free and subsidized hot springs passes to Teton County residents facing financial barriers.
Examples of how the Access Fund helps people in our community fill their relaxation reservoir:
• A $5 soak for commuters affected by the recent Teton Pass closure offers a soothing hot spring session at a discounted rate to revive the stress of driving. Used by over 100 people, this pit stop pass is still available to locals in 27 counties since commuting here in summer isn’t easy.
• Partnerships with local organizations, holding exclusive and free events at Astoria for selected partners and their constituents ensures community members who would otherwise face financial barriers get to receive the health, wellness, and social benefits of our mineral soaking pools.
• Swim Lessons for Kids is our ten-week summer program that enhances children’s water safety skills, ensuring lifelong swimming proficiency through expert-led lessons. Scholarships through the Access Fund make these small-group lessons accessible to those who couldn’t otherwise afford to learn to swim.
Wellness Programs
Our wellness programs like yoga classes, meditation sessions, and educational seminars incorporate hot springs for therapeutic benefits, promoting balance and harmony. Initiatives like the Access Fund and Frontline Resilience programs support critical service providers and the broader community.
• Yoga, sound healing, and meditation classes with experienced providers finish with a relaxing soak in the hot springs to loosen tight muscles and alleviate stress and pain from body and mind.
• Educational seminars with qualified professionals, like the Women’s Health Series, offer knowledge to help navigate participants’ healing journeys.
• Funded by the Access Fund, Astoria’s Frontline Resilience programs cater specifically to critical service providers in health and human services. Through partnerships with twenty organizations, Astoria offers unique experiences such as the Feed Your Mental Health class followed by a hot springs session, which has been highly appreciated by attendees.
Conservation
Camp Astoria and other stewardship efforts inspire future conservationists through education and community service. We offer scholarships and place-based education, exploring geothermal and forested ecosystems unique to Teton County.
• Our educator Bari Bucholz goes out into local classrooms and libraries to teach kids about conservation such as the importance of pollinators and exciting information about birds of prey of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.
• Children also learn on-site in the open spaces of Astoria Park during Camp Astoria, which seeks to inspire students as future conservationists and stewards. Key objectives include utilizing existing local partnerships, we offer scholarships, broadening program participation and enhancing students’ environmental awareness
