Summer Swim Lessons- Thursdays

An event every week that begins at 9:30 am on Thursday, repeating until August 14, 2025

Join Astoria Park Conservancy and JH Swimming for our eight-week Summer Swim Lessons for ages 6 months to 4 years old! Classes provide a supportive environment for young swimmers in a group setting, accompanied by a parent in the pool.
Swim lessons will go on sale at noon on Tuesday, May 20th! Check this site for links to sign up!
*APC Members have access to sign up early, starting on Friday, May 16th, by emailing bari@astoriapark.org

Thursday Swim Lessons: 6/19, 6/26, 7/3, 7/10, BREAK, 7/24, 7/31, 8/7, 8/14

**Please select the appropriate class for your child(ren) based on their age.
 
Trout (3 to 4 YO) 9:30a – 10a *Encompassing children up to—but not yet—five years old.

  • Builds underwater confidence by practicing bubble-blowing, dipping ears, lips, nose, and eventually the full face in water while blowing bubbles.
  • Participants will also practice assisted back floats and may attempt underwater submersion to retrieve a toy.
  • Includes a complimentary soak for each lesson participant and one accompanying adult during the 9:00–11:00 AM session.
Otters (2 to 3 YO) 10a – 10:30a

  • Focuses on assisted back floats, straight-leg kicks, independent pool exits, bubble-blowing, and possibly retrieving a toy underwater.
  • Includes a complimentary soak for each lesson participant and one accompanying adult during the 9:00–11:00 AM session.
Beavers (1 to 2 YO) 10:30a – 11a

  • Focuses on water acclimation, assisted underwater submersion, and back floats, bubble-blowing, and passing children between parent and instructor.
  • Includes a complimentary soak for each lesson participant and one accompanying adult during the 11:15 AM- 1:15 PM session.
Muskrats (6 mo to 1 YO) 11a – 11:30a

  • Includes a complimentary soak for each lesson participant and one accompanying adult during the 11:15 AM- 1:15 PM session.
Important Reminders:
After you receive your email confirmation, please email bari@astoriapark.org with your child’s name and date of birth.
A parent or designated adult must be in the pool with their child for each class.

Arrival Information:

Check-In: Upon arrival, check in at the Welcome Center.

Waivers: If this is your first visit to Astoria in 2025, please plan to sign a waiver on your first day.

Soaking Policy: On the day of your child’s lesson, your child and one accompanying adult receive a complimentary soak. If additional friends or family members would like to join, please make reservations here. Please arrive dressed and ready to get in the water. Your child’s lesson will begin promptly at the designated time, and all lessons require an adult in the water with the child. We do not have a lifeguard on duty.

Parking: Please park close to other vehicles to maximize space. If the main lot is full, use the overflow parking area, located about a five-minute walk from the hot springs. From Astoria’s parking lot, head toward the Snake River Sporting Club—you’ll see the gravel lot on the right. Please enter using the second entrance.

 

General Hot Springs Reminders:

-Snacks should be enjoyed at least 10 feet from the pools.

-No glass items are permitted.

-Silver jewelry will tarnish due to a reaction with the minerals.

-If your child isn’t potty trained and you forget a swim diaper, they are available at the front desk.

-Towel rentals are available for $5 each.

-Children must be supervised at all times, both in and out of the water.

 

Additional Details:

-Each class requires a minimum of two participants. Astoria Park Conservancy reserves the right to combine classes to maximize community impact.

-Small-group instruction is a priority, and space is limited.

-Full payment of $320 plus tax per participant is due at the time of registration.

-$40 per lesson, which includes a 30-minute lesson taught by expert swim instructors from JH Swimming and a Hot Springs soak for one adult and child attending the lesson.

There are changing rooms you are welcome to use to transition into your soaking attire.

General property rules

No dogs are allowed anywhere on our premises, including the parking lot and grounds on this side of the red bridge. This is a requirement of Teton County, as Astoria is located in a wildlife corridor.
