SUMMARY:Astoria Park Groundbreaking
DESCRIPTION:Astoria Park Conservancy announces expansion\nThe community is invited to a groundbreaking celebration to celebrate the beginning of construction of an innovative park that will expand the organization’s impact ten-fold \nAstoria Park Conservancy is completing the community’s vision for the nearly 100-acre park surrounding the popular hot springs. To celebrate the highly-anticipated beginning of the multi-year construction project\, we invite you to join us for a celebration on June 20\, 2024. Beginning at 10:00 a.m. the event will include remarks from local leaders\, a celebratory shovel ceremony and tours of the future park. Special activities and other programs will continue throughout the afternoon at Astoria.  \nSince 2020\, Astoria has welcomed hundreds of thousands of visitors to the hot springs where they can experience the therapeutic benefits of the mineral hot soaking pools and the mental health benefits found by relaxing and connecting with friends and family in nature. Astoria Park Conservancy is steering with fresh eyes and bold goals to complete the park based on the input gathered from over 3\,000 locals and including a variety of facilities and amenities free and open to the public once open in 2026.  \nAstoria Park will offer visitors an innovative\, health-focused restorative experience that builds on the Conservancy’s mission to enhance wellbeing and livability through inspiring experiences in the outdoors. With features such as the Nature Playground\, a meditation trail and an expansive river overlook\, the Park will allow the Conservancy to scale their success for generations to come.  Along with these human benefits\, the project also includes nearly $2M of conservation\, including a partnership with Ducks Unlimited to restore the current three ponds on site.  \nAstoria Park Conservancy is grateful for the generosity from donors to our Campaign for Community Connection; private philanthropy is funding over 80% of this private-public partnership. “Our early leadership donors propelled our impact through investing in scaling our facilities and programs to offer locals accessible\, welcoming and inspiring outdoor experiences. Our success depends on continued philanthropic leadership\, with funding partnerships fueling the completion of the community’s vision for Astoria as quickly as possible\,” says Paige Byron Curry\, Executive Director of Astoria Park Conservancy.  \nAstoria Park Groundbreaking Details & Timeline:\nThursday\, June 20\, 2024 \n\n10:00 am: Gather and mingle\n10:15 am: Remarks\, groundbreaking and celebration\n10:45 am: Astoria Park tours\n11:15 am: Medicine Wheel Yoga Flow
